A soft constrained generalized sidelobe canceller

H. Ye, R.D. DeGroat · 2002

An efficient new beamforming structure similar to a generalized sidelobe canceller is derived from the soft constrained minimum variance (SCMV) method of B. Van Veen (see IEEE Trans. Signal Processing, vol.SP-39, no.9, 1991). The new structure is closely related to the generalized sidelobe canceller and is a direct modification and simplification of Van Veen's general algorithm. The main advantage of the new algorithm is that it greatly reduces the computational load of the SCMV method. Another advantage is that the new structure reveals a simple relationship between SCMV and linearly constrained minimum variance beamforming.>
