General factors of the parameters of the NMR spectra of substituted benzenes

The authors attempt to reduce the information contained in the parameters of the NMR spectra of monosubstituted benzenes to the minimum set of factors reproducing the original information. The total number of factors had to be determined along with their relative significance to evaluate the possibility of using the factors in regression analysis, and to interpret them within the framework of the modern concepts of the theory of effects of substitution. To solve the problems the technique of factorial analysis was used (FA). The FA was performed for two more groups of properties, one of which included the chemical shifts of the H 1 and C 13 nuclei and the SSCC JHH of monosubstituted benzene.
