Benefits and pitfalls of common-bussing AC inverters
M. Tetmeyer, K. Deken · 2002
Low-cost high-performance AC inverters increasingly find application in web-transport systems that previously used line-regenerative DC drives. Common-bussing of AC inverters offers an inexpensive alternative to line-regeneration in many of these applications. This paper discusses the concept of common-bussing, suggests the types of drives that may be easily used in common-bus schemes, and presents an analysis of a critical issue, i.e., proper fuse sizing to balance durability in normal operation with fault interrupting capability. Analysis of a specific drive family is used to illustrate fuse and inductor selection parameters and techniques.
