Book Review: Efficient FORTRAN Programming, by Anton Kruger (Wiley, 1990; ISBN 0 471-52894-3)

Michael Kajen · ACM SIGPLAN Fortran Forum · 1991

I like Kruger's philosophy on writing efficient programs. He presents program efficiency as a series of tradeoffs: memory versus speed, complexity versus speed, generality versus simplicity. His goal is to help the programmer concentrate on writing clear, efficient programs that make the best use of the hardware and software.
