Min Xie · Birkhäuser Boston eBooks · 2000

As an important branch of reliability, software reliability is of growing importance in today’s society because of the widespread application of software systems. In this paper, some important software reliability models arereviewed. Some influential earlier models are reviewed, and some recent ones with the focus on their potential uses and further research prospect are also discussed. It can be noted that as many probability models are being explored, there is a need for model selection, model validation and developing models that can make use of earlier information. Furthermore, the use of models for various decision-making in software development and the effect of various assumptions on these decisions have a great potential to be explored.
