Uplink capacity analysis of limited maximal ratio combining macrodiversity in spread spectrum radio network

A more practical case with a limited number of cells in macrodiversity applying maximal ratio combining (MMRC) in a CDMA system was studied. Via our interference analysis, it is shown that this macrodiversity method can provide more capacity than selection combining. Moreover, the capacity is close to the ideal case (i.e., an isolated cell) when a limited diversity degree is adopted because of propagation attenuation, especially in lower shadowing conditions.
