Experimental demonstration of quantum key distribution with entangled photons following the ping-pong coding protocol

We demonstrate quantum key distribution (QKD) following the ping-pong coding protocol [1]. No transferred bits have to be discarded or checked via a public communication channel. A key transfer rate of 4250 bit/s is reached. The QKD makes use of polarization entangled photons generated by type II parametric down conversion.
