For centuries past, the South African law of evidence was based on a world where almost every source was statutory and in the material world based on objects. If an object was involved this was real evidence, if a piece of writing was the bone of contention, this was documentary evidence. The transformation of so many of our valuables (including money!) into digital rights, has almost caught the law napping.
