Generation of synthetic traffic based on real traffic samples

Abslrocl-In this paper the concept of two algorithms for generating synthetic Poisson and synthetic hl\VM (Multifractal Wavelet Model) traffic based on real traffc trace is presented. Real traffic trace is analyzed in the first step. In the second step, new synthetic Poisson andlor new synthetic MWM traffic trace is generated in such B way that the first order statistical chardcteriStiCS form the original trafiic trace arc prcsenwl. In case of synthetic Poisson traffic new packet inter-arrival time series is produced in a random manner by using negdtirc erponcntial probability distribution with a known mean. New packet Size series is also produced in a rdndom manncr. However, due to specified minimum and maximum packet size, a truncated exponential probability distribution is applied in this ease.
