Component codecs for digital television transmission

Describes the digital television transmission codecs that are being proposed for standardisation within the CMTT and CCIR. The standardisation work to date has concentrated on defining specifications for codecs operating at bit rates around 140 Mbit/s and around 34 Mbit/s (for Europe). An initial interest in defining a standard for transmission at a bit rate around 68 Mbit/s appears to have evaporated.
