SEARCHY: a metasearch engine for heterogeneous sources in distributed environments

Intensive use of information technologies has produced the need of managing important amounts of information in digital format. Depending on particular circumstances, the information may be stored in single documents, data bases, web pages or in document management systems what may lead a potential source of interoperatibility problems. In this paper we present a federated solution to this problem. It is a cooperative distributed multiagent system that locates and integrates the access to heterogeneous distributed data sources, using Dublin Core as the metadata model.
