A New Single-Ended I/O for Low EME Binary Data Link
Franco L. Fiori · 2007
The paper describes a new technique to establish binary links between integrated circuits. Starting from the operation of common single-ended input/output (I/O) circuits, which are widely used as building blocks of microprocessors, DSPs and semiconductor memories, the paper describes a new output buffer and its respective receiver, that communicates each other by means of electric charge pulses. Through this new communication method and using the related input and output circuits, power consumption and signal integrity issues as well as electromagnetic emission of single-ended I/Os can be significantly reduced.
