New file system has to be designed for the efficient storage and retrieval of continuous media for two reasons. Firstly, the differences between continuous media files and conventional file in both aspects of environment and file attributes made the existing file systems unsuitable for continuous media as they are often optimised for conventional files. Secondly, the existing file systems are designed based on certain design decisions that have now become obsolete. This paper proposed an architecture and file system which are designed for the efficient storage and retrieval of continuous media in a read-write server.
