Due to its multidisciplinary origins, the elementary concepts and terminology of Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom) would ideally be derived — among others — from the fields of cognitive informatics, cognitive psychology, infocommunications and human-computer interaction. As the perspectives of these fields often differ considerably, a unified terminology may provide useful for research in CogInfoCom. In this paper, we propose a set of concepts which unify these various fields, as viewed from CogInfoCom. Two examples are given to illustrate how the terminology can be used to describe CogInfoCom systems.
