Shape recovery of non-rigid objects employing factorization-based stereo cameras

Joo Kooi Tan, Seiji Ishikawa · 2002

This paper describes a technique for recovering 3D shape of non-rigid objects employing factorization with stereo cameras. In the proposed image capture system, two video cameras move under the constraint that they capture several static landmarks commonly visible during observation other than non-rigid objects whose shape recovery is of primary concern. Employing the factorization technique, orientations of the video cameras are calculated first, which are then employed for computing 3D coordinates of the feature points specified on the non-rigid objects. Performance of the proposed technique is shown by an experiment.
