Applying PageRank to Patent

PageRank algorithm (PR) is well known as a powerful and efficient algorithm to evaluate the value of documents in networked document model. The html anchors of web documents are the key information to apply the PR. Citation information of patent, however, has different features from the html anchors of web documents, because they are one way directional, non-circular, and sparse. In this paper, we tested PR on US patent and compared it with the results of document evaluations based on simple citation frequency.
