. In the context of evaluating IN service implementations from vendors and BT , we have developed and applied structured modelling tools to detect and resolve feature interactions during service validation and testing. Very successful and promising results have been obtained which supplement and enhance the traditional testing methods used to evaluate new services from vendors. We describe practical results from two types of models built to investigate feature interaction. The results have forced implementation changes by manufacturers before the service could be offered by BT. The first model, a Centrex network model, supports several nodes and its architecture includes techniques for detecting feature interactions. Its central feature is an interaction manager , which not only allows detection, but also allows different sequencing of features to test different service invocation orders.
