Data Representation and Compression
Manfred Denker, Wojbor A. Woyczyński, Bernard Ycart · Birkhäuser Boston eBooks · 1998
The principal question addressed in this chapter is how to present in a readable fashion (often) large sets of data, extracting their essential features in a compact and digestible form which, for instance, would permit an easy comparison of different data sets, discern trends, facilitate management and engineering decisions, or predict future behavior. This is what we call the problem of data representation and compression. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
