A supervisor module for an autonomous vehicle
Steven G. Chappell · 2005
The implementation of a supervising intelligence for an autonomous vehicle has begun. Several concepts and tools from the artificial intelligence community are being adapted in order to accomplish this goal. PROLOG was chosen as the implementation language due to its ability to perform symbolic computations and its availability on a Motorola 68000 development system. The concept of using frames for knowledge representation is being investigated. Testing of the Supervisor will be accomplished in a multi-process vehicle simulation. Each process in the simulation represents a module in the future vehicle. These processes are designed to run in either a standalone mode (communicating with files for testing) or as members of the simulation family. In either case, the module specific code within each process will not require recompilation or alteration.
