This paper summarizes an effective and recommended approach for Configuration Management and for the Configuration Control of Rail-Transit Systems. The Configuration Management approach presented in this paper can be adopted for all Rail-Transit operations as it directly supports and assures a high level of System Safety and System Assurance. These Configuration Management guidelines also provide an assurance of maintenance of a high quality Rail-Transit service as it directly supports the reliability and availability of service.
