This paper presents a cross-platform C++ programming environment designed for rapid prototyping of music synthesis and audio processing programs. The Synthesis ToolKit offers an array of unit generators for filtering, input/output, etc., as well as examples of new and classic synthesis and effects algorithms for research, teaching, performance, and composition purposes. 1
