Technology in Africa has increased over the past decade, The increase in modern cellular networks requires stringent quality of service (QoS). Drop call probability is one of the most important indices of QoS evaluation in a large-scale, well-established cellular network. In this work we started from an accurate statistical analysis of real data collected from one of the leading telecommunication companies in Nigeria, we analysed the total percentage drop call and that due to handover calls for six cells located in Asaba Nigeria. We also used several distributions to fit the result obtained, and the best which gave a better fit was used.In time past, most literature stated that handover failure is the main call-dropping cause; many phenomena, such as irrational user behaviour and propagation conditions, were often neglected. This work shows that dropped calls are not entirely due to handover drops. The obtained results can allow the network provider to optimize system performance, forecast, improve quality of service and revenue, Boggia et al, (2005).
