Although robots are commonly used in advanced computer science courses, such as Artificial Intelligence, they are rarely used in lower level courses such as Beginning Programming or Data Structures. Allowing freshman and sophomores to use stimulating manipulables such as robots promotes retention and turns abstract concepts into real-world problems and solutions. This paper describes the use of a mobile robot in a Data Structures course.
