A nation divided: how technology influences the American political process
Kelly Cannon · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2001
In an attempt to explain how technology shapes the American political process, this paper first explores the problems inherent in American voting methods as revealed by Election 2000 and then presents several alternatives available to our government that are currently ignored or understudied. Finally, this paper examines how the people themselves have incorporated computers and the Internet to further their own political initiatives, forming a stark contrast with the limited and often archaic technology used by the government.
