Indoor and outdoor objects tracking.

A new application based on active contour models and an efficient algorithm to track colour objects with shadows in general video environment are presented. The algorithm can eliminate the distracting influence from shadows and track the real shape of the object. The novelty of this work is the use of new external forces with colour informations in instead of using intensity informations steering the deformation process of the snake. However, using the proposed approach, better results are obtained and the external problem of disturbance is minimised (images are affected by shadows, highlights). The quality of the results can be significantly improved by employing the colour gradient.
