Experiences in Implementing Automated Evaluation and Grading in a MOOC Using a Behavior-driven Testing Framework
Kevin Warne · 2014
This thesis investigates a solution for grading a massive number of student submitted programming assignments in a MOOC course. The challenge of this particular automated grading system is that students were required to use a web application framework to implement their assignments. Test driven development (TDD) tools were used to functionally test student assignment submissions and intelligently assign a grade and feedback. This thesis was supported by the results of an automated grading system, gathered by implementing and testing the system in a Massively Open Online Course (MOOC) environment. The feasibility of using test-driven development methods as a basis for automated grading of student web application assignments is demonstrated and discussed below.
