Services and applications of the BREHAT project

BREHAT is a French acronym which stands for'ATM high bit rate cross connect network. It is the name of a common project which has been led in association between CNET (the FRANCE TELECOM Research Laboratories), Alcatel-CIT and TRT-Philips. Its objective is to experiment and demonstrate the service integration capabilities of ATM. For that equipment and their related administration functions have been specified and developed, both for the public network and for the customer premises. This paper gives an overview of the project, focusing on the provided services both to the user and to the network operator.
