In the context of the quasi-harmonic plus noise model (QHNM), the maximum voiced frequency performs the actual (spectral) separation between the deterministic and stochastic part of a speech signal. The paper presents two different new approaches for determining the maximum voiced frequency (MVF) for QHNM speech signal analysis. Both subjective and objective comparison between them and a classical method to extract MVF are provided. Results show a significant decrease of the computational effort with an almost indistinguishable change in the perceived quality.
