The information industry development in Taiwan

The driving force behind the economic miracle of Taiwan has been the gradual evolution of the economy from agricultural industry of the 50s to the high-tech industry of the 90s. In shaping the restructuring of the nation's industry, the government has focused its main energies on 10 strategic industries, among them the information industry. With a total output value of USD10.88 billion in 1993 and ranked 9th among domestic industries in 1992 Taiwan's information industry is projected to reach USD33 billion by the year 2002.>
