Advanced Fault Analysis with Techniques from Cryptanalysis

Kazuo Sakiyama, Yu Sasaki, Yang Li · 2015

The purpose of this chapter is applying the techniques for the theoretical cryptanalysis to fault analysis in order to optimize the attack. In particular, optimizations for relaxing the fault model and reducing the cost to recover the key are discussed. Firstly, the standard DFA (differential fault analysis) attack is optimized with techniques for differential cryptanalysis. Then, impossible differential cryptanalysis, integral cryptanalysis, and meet-in-the-middle attack are combined with the fault attack.
