Structural Studies on Strained-Layer Lattices

In strained-layer lattices including superlattices the mismatch of several percent or larger is taken up in strain of the thin films with the internal energy being less than the energy to form dislocations. The characteristic structures of strained-layer lattices such as III–V compounds, oxides and metals are discussed in terms of mismatch parameters and critical thicknesses of the lattices.
