The new age of IN: the intelligent server farm

In the last one or two years the well-known paradigm of intelligent networks was widened and newly defined to meet as well the trends and the experienced progress in the area of IP-based public telecommunication networks as well the demands for IN-based functionality and solutions outside the classical voice-driven telecommunication. In the following paragraphs the content of that paradigm shift are delineated. Briefly we focus on: the classical definition of intelligent networks; the new architecture and design of intelligent servers; the new concept of intelligence in networks, intelligent server farm; last but not least, how to achieve the virtual home environment by the consequent employment of intelligent server farms in multilayer networks.
