Arranging defect management in an agile development process
Matti Kokkola · 2004
Abstract — Defect tracking is used to manage defects and to gather data for process improvement. Defect analysis is used to spot weaknesses of applied quality assurance methods and to make the organization learn from mistakes it has made. In agile methodologies, the whole development team is responsible for the product quality. There are no dedicated testing team doing its own job separately from the actual development work. This fact suggests that feature man-agement and defect management should not be separated, but they should be handled with the same process. In this research, Scrum is used as a reference model for an agile development model. A first version of defect tracking arrangement for the case company is presented and it is evaluated by inter-viewing company’s personel. On basis of the evaluation, the next version of the defect tracking arrangement is suggested.
