The performance evaluation of networks comprised of bit-slice emulators developed at New Mexico State University using the AM2900 LSI family is investigated. Three different parallel architectures are analysed using the emulator system. These architectures represent both von Neumann and non-von-Neumann machines. Analytic and simulation techniques are used to measure the performance of the proposed systems. The resource utilisation factor will determine the system performance. Given a fixed number of processing elements (PEs) and a prespecified work load, systematic procedures are given to determine the various performance measures. 14 references.
