A Probabilistic Model for Blocking Risks of Atomic Transactions in P2P Networks.

Joos-Hendrik Böse, Jürgen Broß, Heinz Schweppe · 2008

We analyze the reliability of atomic commit protocols for distributed transactions processed in a P2P environment. In order to quantify the risk of blocking caused by a failure of the transaction coordinator or a communication failure between participant and coordinator, we present a probabilistic calculation model for strict and semantic transactions in arbitrary P2P scenarios. We evaluate the approach to integrate cooperative-recovery (CR). In order to show the practicability of the model, we apply it to an example P2P scenario, situated in a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) environment.
