A ROBUST VOICE ACTIVITY DETECTOR FOR SVD-BASED NOISE REDUCTION IN HEARING AIDS
Jean-Baptiste Maj, Marc Moonen, Jan M Wouters · 2002
This paper presents a robust voice activity detector (VAD) for a noise reduction algorithm based on optimal filtering and singular value decomposition (SVD) [1]. The SVD-strategy is applied to a twin-microphone hearing aids and the VAD works on the log-energy of the signal. An evalua-tion of the VAD is carried out when it is connected to differ-ent signals in the noise reduction scheme for low signal-to-noise ratio scenarios with stationary as well as non-stationary noise. 1.
