This paper presents a fuzzy image restoration/segmentation technique whose application is intended for a class of digital images where the object of interest is one continuous 'strand/spl Gt/CLOSE '. Specifically, the problem of image 'drop-out' is discussed, and a method to reconstruct the missing borders in images of shattered glass is developed.>
