This paper presents an overview of the problems most commonly encountered in the analysis of natural gas for water vapor content, and provides details on the successful application of the thin film aluminum oxide moisture sensor to this type of measurement. Natural gas, as it comes from the ground, is usually quite warm and saturated with water. If the gas is not quickly treated to remove liquid water as well as water in the vapor phase, numerous problems can result. The problems associated with this saturation are presented in this paper.
