A procedure was worked out for the synthesis of H/sup 3/vinylacetate, starting from H/sup 3/-acetic acid (CH/sub 3/COOH/sup 3/) and H/sup 3/-acetylene (H/sup 3/C = CH/sup 3/). It could be shown that the activity is built in almost quantitatively using H/sup 3/-acetylene, while acetic acid, labeled at the proton, attributes very little to the H/sup 3/-activity of the vinylacetate originating in the isotope effect. To investigate the delivery of activity from polyvinylacetate either by exchange or by volatile compounds, block and suspension polymerizates were prepared. The block polymerizates contain, in contrast to the suspension polymerizate, a considerable amount of H/sup 3/labeled compounds, predominately monomers. It could be shown that in the polymer during storage a small amount of volatile H/sup 3/-compounds are produced. (auth)
