Systems in the Time Domain
Eugen Georg Woschni · Handbook of Measuring System Design · 2005
Abstract Systems can be described either in the time or in the frequency domains. In this article, the methods using the time domain are treated: after some remarks concerning the classification of systems analogies, block diagrams and linearization are treated. The classical description using differential equations is followed by the state space description leading to flowcharts. Then the answer (response) functions to typical test signals were deduced. At the end, the answer to a general input by means of the convolution integral is obtained.
