Integrating the computer and telecommunications

Computers are being integrated with private telecommunications systems in an increasing number of ways. Using the concept of servers connected to different interfaces of PBX systems provides a wide range of added-value features and options. Computer supported telephony applications (CSTA) and wideband servers are highlighted as two areas which will impact substantially on future networks to provide new applications and services.
