On the genesis of fuzzy sets

The meaning, or use, of a predicate P on a set X is considered in the case it can be described by means of the relational statements x is as equally P as and x is less P than y, for x, y in X. A general enough definition of an L - degree for P is introduced, the collective originated on X by the collective noun P is represented by an L - set, and a mathematical approach to 'social meaning' is presented. Synonyms, negates, and antonyms of P are also considered, as well as the concepts of qualified, modified and constrained predicates.
