VOD control and management server for an effective use of dynamic network resources with user satisfaction

It is important to satisfy users with service quality while making an effective use of limited network and server resources for a VOD service using ATM in the B-ISDN. This paper discusses necessary resources and their arrangement for a video information provider (VIP) to offer a VOD service on a wide-area ATM network, and proposes a VOD control and management server (VOD CM server) for video transmission control based on unique algorithms using network resources information.
