Extracting Real Modes from Complex Measured Modes

This paper is concerned with the problem of extracting real modes from complex mea~ suted modes using correlation analysis. It presents a generalization of the method discussed by Imregun and Ewins (1993) based on maximizing the carrdation, or MAC, between a complex mode and the corresponding real mode. It is shown analytically that the real mode most correlated with a complex mode is the real part of the same complex mode when it is rotated properly.
