The impact of technology evolution on the future of telecommunications energy management
V.L. Guest · 2005
In this paper, the authors visualize the telecommunications energy management systems of the next century. In particular, they propose ways in which the key areas of engineering, installation, monitoring, diagnosis and maintainance of energy/power systems of the future will be impacted by advances in computing, networking and telecommunications technologies. They review the present technologies including microprocessor control, remote monitoring, voice response, multilingual programming and networking as indicators of what the future holds. They then consider the capabilities in sophisticated user interfaces, wireless networking, increased portability and augmented system intelligence and what they portend for future energy systems products.>
