Simulation of neural network models is greatly facilitated by certain architectural features of the simulation hardware. The SAIC Delta Neurocomputer was designed to provide the fastest possible neural network simulation speeds coupled with a general purpose architecture that could be applied to a wide range of applications. This required several architectural innovations in addition to the use of state of the art digital design and board layout and packaging techniques.
