Abstract In recent years, the electronic control system has become more intelligent and advanced to make cars safer, more comfortable, and environmentally friendly. This chapter describes the transition of automotive electronics and then describes the increase in the use of ECUs , the history of wire harnesses, and networks between ECUs . It describes the transition in the number of ECUs and the related problems of the increased use of wire harnesses. Next, a prediction of their future is explored. In addition, LAN history is described and the standardization of in‐vehicle LANs , LAN structure, and the next generation of standard LAN .
