Determining the True and False Sharing Thrashings in Parallel Processing Systems.

Guohua Jin, Xiaomei Li, Fuije Chen · PPSC · 1995

This paper describes the coexistent phenomenon of the thrashings due to true and false sharing of data in parallel processing systems, introduces a new concept called parallel loop access interval. The access interval and the relative positions of the iterations which form the access interval can be used to rearrange the iteration space of a nested loop and restructure the nested loop to eliminate both the true sharing thrashing and the false sharing thrashing.
