The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same!

In the past few weeks the UK Department of Trade and Industry released the most recent survey that shows management of major companies remain transfixed by the opportunity of electronic business, but apparently heedless of the losses that all too often follow. Even though 60% of the respondents indicated they had experienced a security breach in the last two years, nearly two out of three that had experienced a serious breach maintained that nothing had changed. As a further example of how poorly management is addressing risks in the electronic business area, 80% of the companies with external links to the Internet did not use firewall systems.
