An effective macroscopic model for a nonstationary reaction‐diffusion problem in a periodic system is derived. The microscopic system is supposed to be a bounded domain, periodically perforated with small reactive solid obstacles. The homogenized problem is described by a new operator, which is the sum of a standard homogenized one and an extra zero order term coming from the geometry and the nonlinear boundary conditions imposed on the surface of the obstacles.
